The feeling of watching a sporting event live, in the stadium, is unrivalled. Having been to many sporting events, the buzz and atmosphere is like nothing else. Plus, if the team or athlete you’re supporting is the eventual winner, you feel like you’re on top of the world.
On the other hand, crowds can get pretty rowdy. If someone’s team doesn’t win (which of course is inevitable), then there may be a chance that their anger and disappointment may be taken out on a fan of the opposing team. Defending your team’s honour is the sometimes the first thing on your priority list, and some fans will take that very seriously.
The behaviour of fans doesn’t normally impact the spectacle itself, but there are notable exceptions. One such exception was a fiery boxing match between Steven Butler and Brandon Cook in Canada. All I can say is that involved a KO, an ice bucket and a very good throwing ability by a crowd member.
