Set Default Resolution & Change YouTube’s Default Home Tab

When it comes down to it, the YouTube Android app does not offer the best user experience or customizability. For starters, YouTube opens a whimsical “home” tab over “Subscriptions”. i.e, it shows you what it thinks you’re interested in over what you’re actually interested in. Besides that, aren’t you fed up of always having to set the resolution for every video you watch? Wouldn’t you rather have every video play with a default resolution?

Thanks to developer Mikanoshi, the popular Xposed Module called YourTube is back. So, let’s have a look at how to get it and why to get it.

Get YourTube+

Prerequisites

  • rooted Android device
  • Xposed Framework installed
  • “Unknown Sources” enabled (via Settings->Security)
  • Official YouTube app installed and updated

Install YourTube+

First, go to the Download section in the Xposed Installer app and search for YourTube+ or download the APK from this page. Swipe over to the “versions” tab, hit the “Download” button and press “Install” when prompted. Once that’s done, make sure to activate the module and then reboot to let your changes take effect.

Log in to your account and enjoy the following features:

Select Max Resolution & Default Home Tab

In the app, select the “Default Pane” option to change the screen that YouTube opens to. Options include My Subscriptions and Trending. If you select the “Playlist” or “Subscription” , you’ll have to enter the URL for the specific playlist or subscription page.

Apart from that, you can increase video resolution by tapping “Maximum default quality”, then selecting a resolution. This means that all videos will play in this resolution by default as long as the video is available in that quality. You can choose from all available resolutions of a video by ticking the box next to “Override device support”.

With this, your YouTube experience should be a lot better. When you open up the app, it’ll show you your preferred tab and resolution issues are a thing of the past. What do you think about YourTube+? Let us know in the comments below.
